Little League® International has announced the elevation of Jon Harrington from Social Media Coordinator to Social Media Manager, effective as of January 1, 2024.
“Social media has become such an important part of our organization’s communications strategy, and an incredible tool as we look to connect the different generations within our program,” said Dallas Miller, Little League Director of Social and Digital Strategy. “We could not be more proud of the work that Jon has been able to accomplish in his less than two years with the organization, and are pleased to provide him with this well-deserved opportunity. We look forward to continuing to work with Jon on growing and developing our social channels, as we continue to offer a fun and memorable experience for all our parents, volunteers, players, and fans.”
Since joining the Little League team in April 2022, Mr. Harrington has been responsible for the day-to-day management and operation of Little League’s official social media platforms, including content creation, analytic review, and engagement with other partners and organizations. During his time with Little League, he has helped to grow each of the organization’s official social media platforms, including the successful relaunch of its YouTube page and the establishment of a TikTok channel that now garners approximately 300,000 followers with more than 6.5 million likes. Through his efforts, Little League was able to surpass 1.5 million combined followers across all its platforms in 2023 and continues to find new ways to engage with its audiences as part of its strategic efforts. Additionally, through his on-site support at the Little League Softball World Series in Greenville, North Carolina, Mr. Harrington has been able to continue to expand Little League’s digital coverage of the event over the past two years, helping lead to an 12.42% increase in potential media reach in 2023.
“I am very thankful for this opportunity and for the trust that the Little League organization has put into my ability to manage its official social media channels on a daily basis,” said Mr. Harrington. “Our content creation and engagement across all our channels continues to grow and allows us to maintain a modern brand presence with parents across multiple generations. I am excited to work with the entire team in this new role as we continue to find new ways to grow our brand and ensure that the Little League program is fun, engaging, and memorable for all those who experience it.”
Prior to joining the Little League team, Mr. Harrington served as an intern with USA Baseball where he helped execute content for their official social media account, as well as the 24 auxiliary accounts they oversee. In that role, he also acted as the on-site social media creator while covering USA Baseball events and helped to oversee select campaigns around the USA Baseball Shop account.
In addition to his work at USA Baseball, Mr. Harrington also spent time as a Social Media Assistant at Carpe in Durham, North Carolina, where he created daily content for their Instagram and TikTok channels while displaying the brand’s voice and story. Additionally, he spent four years with the North Carolina Football Club in Cary, North Carolina, ultimately serving as an event manager where he helped develop a content calendar, worked with sponsorship staff and client activations, and served as the point of contact for five clients and vendors of the club.
A 2019 graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management, Mr. Harrington served as the Social Media and Philanthropy Chair of the Sport Management Club during his undergraduate experience.
